Carl Fischer Music celebrates the Centennial of Alberto Ginastera (1916 - 1983) with this special publication of Doce Preludios Americanos (Twelve American Preludes), Op. 12. Alejandro Cremaschi (Associate Professor, University of Colorado at Boulder) has meticulously prepared this edition, adding a preface as well as extensive performance and editorial notes. As an added bonus, Prof. Cremaschi has recorded the complete works which are available as a free download with this publication. Newly engraved and full of added insight, this edition will be treasured by pianists and fans of Ginastera's music alike. in 1946 and quickly became established as basic repertoire for pianists at the upper-intermediate to advanced level. Now for the first time they are exclusively available in one volume. Each short piece in the collection deals with a particular musical or technical challenge (in the manner of an etude) and several of the pieces are tributes to distinguished fellow composers such as Aaron Copland, Juan Jose Castro and Hector Villa Lobos.
